💕My Six-pack Pet Peeves/New Cover Reveal für Unbezähmbare Begierde💕

Hello Booklover,

Yes, I did miss you in the last three weeks. But all is back to Life Goes On again. How have you precious ones been doing?

To today's topic...

This really is a plague. Dozens of these scammers every day.

No matter how often I delete and block them, they seem to multiply. Like the Hydra: every time I chop off one head, several more grow in its place. The more I delete and block, the more of these emails I receive. Most of them also sound suspiciously generic, which makes them fairly obvious AI-generated fare.

They come in every variety imaginable: from “curated Goodreads readers” to podcasters and radio shows; from the film industry and supposed “editors” at Big Five publishers to literary agents and new book publishers I’ve never even heard of. The clever bit is that they’ll often give you a link to a genuine website or whichever real entity they claim to represent.

The ones that annoy me most are those who pretend to have read my work, then proceed to embellish my own book blurbs for my benefit—along with my qualifications, heritage and awards I’ve won, all conveniently harvested from my author bio. As if I need someone to tell me what blurb I wrote or who I am.

Some address me by the names of complete strangers. Some pretend to be real bestselling authors who want to team up with me for their—or my—next project. Others seem to think I have all the time in the world to “chat” with them.

Then there are the particularly irritating ones who, at the end of their lengthy emails, ask whether I’d like them to send me their ideas, proposals, MOs or whatever else they’re peddling. It’s like going to the market for some fruit and vegetables and having one vendor whisper, “Psssst. My apples are the best, but I don’t display them here. If you could please come round behind my stall, I’ll show them to you.”

Since when did literary agents and publishers’ editors start soliciting authors in the twenty-first century?

Anyway that said, I have exciting revelations for you next week with the most gorgeous new luxury covers.

Stay choosy - you owe it to yourself.

I wish you a great Sunday and New Week ahead!

Always with fondness,

Eure

THE VON K’ORY CONFIDENTIAL Books, wickedness & everything between the lines

A P von K’Ory writes steamy New Adult and contemporary romance, high-stakes corporate fiction, and thrillers set in the rarefied worlds of the ultrarich, aristocracy, power, and privilege. Lately, she has planted both feet firmly in dark romance, exploring the darker edges of power, privilege, obsession and desire—where psychological warfare can be every bit as dangerous as physical violence. An embarrassingly generous amount of her own life—and her family’s—has a habit of finding its way into her fiction. A journalist and blogger as well as a novelist, she has travelled extensively across the world, weaving the places, cultures, people, and experiences she encounters into both her fiction and her political and humanitarian nonfiction. She loves talking about writing and storytelling, books, culture, and international entertainment—and occasionally about which parts of her novels she absolutely refuses to admit really happened.
